Kirra Criterium Additional Events

Kids on 2 Wheels Challenge - Saturday 21 October, Kirra Foreshore

The kids will have the opportunity to be part of the fun and atmosphere of the criterium races. Before the start of the Kirra Criterium Women's Open race, 3-12 year olds will be invited to take part in a handicapped ‘fun’ ride around the circuit in front of the spectators.
The ‘older’ kids will get to ride a complete lap of the circuit and the ‘little ones’ (5 years and under) will ride the last 200m to the finish line.

It is all about the experience for the kids and it doesn't matter where they finish!

All kids will be awarded with a medal as a memento and get the chance to take home a random prize.

Start Time - 10.00am

Registration - Kirra Foreshore (opposite Kirra Village) 8.00am - 9.30am Saturday

Bike and Helmet Check - 9.30am

Cost - Free, $0!

Kids are required to bring their own bike. Helmets must be worn. Balance bikes and bikes with training wheels are permitted. Please check that the tyres are pumped up, if possible.

Riding a bike is a great way to have fun! It also has so many benefits related to health and the community.

Our ‘Kids on 2 Wheels’ program aims to teach kids how to ride safely, skillfully and confidently on a two wheel bike. It caters for kids who can’t yet ride through to those looking to improve their skills and knowledge in shared environments.

Invitational Bike Cruiser Challenge

Local identities will be invited to take part in a two-lap handicap race around the circuit in support of the Amy Gillett Foundation. The theme of the race is very much southern Gold Coast and each rider will be required to ride a ‘beach cruiser’ bike wearing their best ‘beach attire’. They will each be affiliated with a local bike shop (who will supply the cruiser bike) and a sponsor.

The race will help promote local initiatives to make it safer for our kids to ride their bikes.

Start Time - 11.00am
